Minnesota illustrator Ben Hed has appeared on Bored Panda before when we laugh at his depictions of animals flirting like humans and when he introduces us to comic characters Pixie and Brutus, two of his most popular creations. Pixie and Brutus have helped him reach close to a million followers on his pet game Instagram page, which features silly little comics with various types of animals.
Pixie, a beautiful and naive kitten that Ben characterizes as cheerful and active, and Brutus, a gruff and cynical ex-military dog, are the key pair for success. It’s a wild ride with Pixie’s gleeful awkwardness, driving the usually stern and sullen Brutus into despair. She is special to him and he will do anything to keep her safe. As Ben explains to us, Pixie and Brutus were just another weird comic concept that came to me while I was at work. When I first conceived the idea, I thought it would be a hilarious idea to pair an adorable little kitty with a big, scary war dog. Because it is so well received, I continue to produce Pixie and Brutus comics.
