The webcomic series that follows a small, cheerful and completely adorable kitten and her large, scar-faced German Shepherd friend, cat and dog lovers unite with the duo Pixie and Brutus. Cartoonist and author, Ben Hed, said that as a random humorous comedic idea, the cute animal adventures began. But viewers really enjoyed the series, so he kept it. Pixie and Brutus currently have 1.7 million followers on Instagram and their fun, funny and sweet stories continue to bring them happiness. Pixie and Brutus fandom has been growing increasingly and Hed has planned to launch a line of such merchandise to keep them amused. The illustrator spoke to Bored Panda last time, saying that the idea of making Pixie the tiny kitten and Brutus the dangerous dog plushies was in the works, and now we seem to be able to expect them shortly: “Yes indeed; just start with Pixie.” There are a lot of improvements that still need to be made, but if I had to estimate a date, I’d say in three months, we’ll start selling. We can do other characters if we sell enough Pixie plushies (Brutus next, most likely).

Keeping up with demand may put pressure on others, but instead, Hed used it to drive himself, saying last time, “I worry about the performance of each comic, but I worried about that before I also created Pixie and Brutus.” His Instagram followers increased dramatically following that interview, which he said never ceases to shock him.

Not only does he not feel pressure from his followers, but through their messages, they inspire him. “Tons of input. What they loved about the comic, what they felt was going to happen, suggestions for new characters, ideas for potential comics. In my feed, there are probably a few funny comics that are entirely inspired by a comment about one of my blogs.
