We’ve featured the work of Minnesota illustrator Ben Hed earlier here at Bored Panda, laughing alongside his imaginations of animals flirting like humans and displaying his hugely popular comic creations Pixie and Brutus. His Instagram page Pet Foolery, with “little stupid comics” featuring different species of animals, has really taken off, with the success of Pixie and Brutus in particular pushing it close to 1 million followers.
The contrast between Pixie, a sweet, naive kitten whom Ben describes as “cheerful and energetic,” and ex-military cynical Brutus, is the secret to the couple’s popularity. They have all kinds of adventures, with Pixie enthusiastic clashes that bring despair to the serious and sometimes shy Brutus. However, he has a soft spot for her and will do anything to protect her! “Honestly, Pixie and Brutus were just another random comic idea I had when I was at work,” Ben told us. “I never planned to do a series, I just thought it would be a funny idea to introduce a cute little kitten to a big scary war dog. So I made the first comic of Pixie and Brutus, and people liked it so much that I kept making them. “
