A year and a half ago, illustrator Ben Hed uploaded a new comic to his Instagram account. His adoptive friend, retired military dog Brutus, has a kitten named Pixie. The internet was instantly smitten with the adorable couple, so Ben decided to dedicate an entire series to his hilarious little adventures. “Honestly, Pixie and Brutus, while working, was just another weird comic idea I had. I never intended to do a series for them,” Hed said in a previous interview.
I thought it was a hilarious idea to introduce a cute kitty to a tall, intimidating war dog. So I made the first Pixie and Brutus cute animal comic and people loved it so much I kept making them. Today, more than 2.3 million people follow Ben on Instagram, and Pixie and Brutus have contributed quite a bit to this incredible figure. His new comics are just as monstrous as the old ones.
