It’s a long way from “It’s a match!” To a match made in heaven. This path is full of ups and downs, as well as ambitious relationship goals. Take that chewing gum you’ve had since high school and tick the relevant boxes: finish each other’s sentences that always run the risk of causing controversy; Wearing couples outfits that neither of you likes; They call each other sweet names that sound annoying to an outside ear.

There must be an easier way to enlarge love. The Katana Chetwind Illustrated Series is a pain-free answer to capturing the soccer side of every relationship. After her boyfriend John posted katana drawings of their daily lives on the internet, a strong fan base of 2.9 million people started following this happy little couple.

Bored Panda spoke to Catana in order to find out how Catana Comics and the artist herself have transformed over the years. “A lot of things have changed since we started the comics! We’ve moved on, made job changes, grown up, and our relationship has matured.” One thing remained the same: “We love each other and enjoy each other every day.”

The artist feels that her drawing style has evolved a bit since her boyfriend posted her work online in 2016. “As with many artists, when you draw, your style changes and you barely realize until you look back. I am very happy with what the style looks like now. And I feel like it’s been consistent for a while now.” And not only did the style evolve – the katana feels that it has matured. “My attitude towards life has changed too, as I think it is inevitable as you get older. I have certainly matured (well…to a degree) and I am happy with what I have become.

When it comes to love, it’s the little things that really matter, and Katana believes that everyone should have more fun in a relationship. “I feel like in the movies and the media, relationships can always be serious and exciting.” She adds, “There must definitely be some of that, but I think the fun, the friendliness, the laughter on the floor, and the two in the morning cereal together should play a big part as well.”

The artist believes that Katana Comics has gained so much fame because it reveals just how much we have in common. “We often find that two people who are far apart, in very different ages, different languages, and different lives, can both find something about the comics that speak to them.” In the end, “We’re all a little quirky and goofy and silly and cool.” We couldn’t agree more!
