Pixie and Brutus (previously here, here, and here) are some of those comic book characters you wish you could meet in real life. And while you can’t actually pet these adorable four-legged critters, illustrator Ben Hed still delivers strips that are sure to satisfy everyone’s thirst for cuteness. The duo have earned Ben over 1 million followers on Instagram, keeping him as busy as ever.
Ben, however, is not intimidated by his huge fan base. “My creative process is no different now than when I had 25,000 followers,” he told Bored Panda. “I’ve been able to transition to illustration as my full-time job, and it’s all thanks to those guys and their overwhelming support of my comics. I know it sounds cliché, but I can’t thank you enough.”
“Pixie is a small, cheerful and energetic kitten,” said the artist. “She is innocent, and she is also somewhat oblivious to the serious and dangerous things around her.” On the other hand, Brutus is a large German shepherd with scars on his face. “He was adopted by Pixie’s owner after he retired as a Military Working Dog (MWD). Brutus, in many ways, is the exact opposite of Pixie. He… has seen things. He is a very serious and intimidating military dog, but he has a soft spot for Pixie and does what he can to protect her from the harsh realities of the world around them.” Keep scrolling to see her latest adventures!
