Freelance illustrator and digital media student from Germany, Jenny Jinya, has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across numerous platforms with her comics of animals meeting death. And if you’re alarmed by that thought, don’t be. Not only are the comics adamant about animal rights, but the Death version of Jenny isn’t a villain either. Rather, a compassionate guide who leads the creatures to her new home.
The series started with ‘Good Boy’ and ‘Black Cat’ and eventually moved on to rabbits and elephants, but this time Jenny turns everyone’s attention to the abandoned animals that we rarely talk about as suffering pets: parrots.

Jenny believes that there are many different reasons why parents buy so-called pocket pets for their children. “Like hamsters and fish, birds are thought to be small animals that don’t require a lot of care. However, when these little critters suddenly start making a mess, people realize they haven’t done enough research,” she told Bored Panda.
“Parrots like parakeets are small, pretty and also quite cheap. Often it’s probably just underestimated just how wild and complex these animals are. We are talking about exotic birds that are inherently wild. These birds are not decoration, they are noisy, they want to fly, they need attention. You can’t just put them next to Grandma’s flower pot and ignore them,” Jenny explained.
