I am a full time professional illustrator who has worked on 45 picture books for children. In 2016, I published “Monsters Go Night-Night,” a book in which all the characters were inspired by monster drawings created by my 5-year-old son Elijah. To commemorate the publication of the book, I asked the artists to rework the original children’s drawings in their own way and share them on social media. The reaction was so overwhelming that I called the challenge “Monsters Go” and continued to post a new monster ad each week for the next three years, now with the contribution of my six children. During this time, I started a new personal project, “Monsters Go,” which I kept referring to. Instead of multiple artists drawing from a single monster message, I, as a single artist, would re-draw many monsters presented by many children in this round.

From 2017 to 2018, I got almost 20,000 designs from children and redrew 300 of them. In 2019, I finished the online challenge to redraw my own children’s monsters. When the epidemic struck, however, I began receiving regular requests from artists, who were looking for both joy and creative inspiration in these trying times.
