I am a full-time professional illustrator who has worked on 45 children’s picture books. In 2016 I published “Monsters Go Night-Night”, a book in which all the characters were inspired by drawings of monsters created by my 5-year-old son Elijah. To commemorate the publication of the book, I asked the artists to rework the children’s original drawings in their own way and share them on social media. The reaction was so overwhelming that I named the challenge “Monsters Go” and continued to post a new monster ad every week for the next three years, now contributed by my six children. During this time, I started a new personal project, “Monsters Go”, which I kept referring to. Instead of multiple artists drawing from a single monster, I, as a single artist, would redraw many monsters submitted by many children in this round.
