The comic book series Pixie and Brutus is so candid that it manages to unite cat and dog lovers with every adorable drawing it brings out. What started out as a casual animal friendship has evolved into a lot more and now Pixie and Brutus fans can not get enough of it. And to satisfy their desire, they even started making their fanatics comics between the original releases. Some of them are also really good. Well, you probably wouldn’t have raised any questions if you had seen them on Pixie and Brutus’s Instagram account.

One of the fans who contributed, Holly Foret, said she learned about Pixie and Brutus through their fan club on Instagram. “I love these comics because they are the healthiest characters ever,” Holly told Bored Panda. “And it’s different from other animal comics because Brutus is a retired veteran dog! With wounds inside and out. Pixie restores his soft patient side.

And the whole comic revolves around the two main adorable animals. I mean, it’s in the title. Their chemistry is a big part of what makes it so good. When he created Pixie and Brutus, Ben Hed thought it would be a ridiculous idea to introduce a cute kitten to a big scary war dog. “Pixie is a small, cheerful and energetic kitten,” Ben Bored told Panda. “She is innocent and also somewhat oblivious to the serious and dangerous things about her.”

Brutus, on the other hand, is a large German Bar, with a scarred face. “He was adopted by the owner of Pixie after retiring as a Military Working Dog (MWD). Brutus, in many ways, is the exact opposite of Pixie. He has seen things. He is a very serious and intimidating military dog, but he has a soft spot for Pixie and does everything he can to protect him from the harsh realities of the world around them.

Another contributor, Kassandra from the United States, found Pixie and Brutus on the exploration page on Instagram. “I thought they were adorable and since then I’m a big fan! I even subscribed to the creator ‘s Patreon to watch extra funny comics!”

“I like comics a lot because [the tapes] are simple and I feel good. They make me smile when I had a bad day. I also like the dynamics between the characters.”

Also, Kassandra believes that one big reason behind the success of Pixie and Brutus is the lack of common tropes like cats and dogs not liking each other. “It does not represent a bad cat or a stupid dog, the characters are unique,” she said. “You do not expect Brutus to be so sweet from a brother based on his appearance. I think the world that created Benjamin is well done and leaves me wanting to see more of her.”

“I would just like to add that all of Benjamin’s characters are great, not just Pixie and Brutus. Randal the Raccoon is my favorite! And for all the fan artists who contribute to the Pixie and Brutus comics, I’ve seen a lot of your stuff and you are all great artists too!
