The air smelled of rust and decay. Chains rattled in the dimly lit underground chamber. I had spent years trapped here—countless days staring at the cold stone walls, waiting for a moment of hope, a sign of escape.
Then, tonight, it happened.
A loud boom echoed through the corridors. The guards screamed. Gunfire. Explosions. My heart pounded as footsteps rushed toward my cell. A masked figure appeared, eyes burning with urgency.
“We’re getting you out,” they whispered, snapping my chains open.
I followed them, sprinting through the tunnels. Bodies of my captors lay motionless. The people who had stolen my freedom, my life—they were finally gone. We reached a metal door, and my rescuer pushed it open.
